Nicholas Ruddock in Guelph, ON
I was delighted with the experience. The author's book rep was very friendly and ensured that the author knew I was at the event through BookLounge. The evening was great and the reading was fantastic. The muscial guest was an added treat!

This is the first book event I have ever attended with so many people. Although I live in Guelph now, I am not a native. I did not know Nicholas Ruddock so it was an experience meeting with him and seeing all his excited friends and family. Dr. Ruddock made quite the impression when he read those few chapters. The guest I brought wants to read it when I am done as well. Also I know another woman who attended the event and she told me this morning that she is trying to convince her book group to purchase and read 'The Parabolist' as well.

Jo Nesbo & Linwood Barclay in Toronto, ON
We really enjoyed the evening and were made very welcome by the Booklounge VIP team, who ensured that we had good seats. My guest had been to Harbourfront readings before but it was a first for me and I plan on attending more. The presentations by Jo Nesbo and Lynwood Barclay were excellent. I’ve read some of Linwood Barclay’s books but I’d never heard of Jo Nesbo. I’m really looking forward to reading both books - It’s always good to find a new author.

Ian McEwan in Vancouver, BC
We enjoyed Ian McEwan’s chat with Jerry Wasserman very much! And I loved ‘Solar’; I thought it was hilarious. Ian McEwan is a wonderful writer. I discovered him originally because my brother’s name was Ian McEwen, so I bought a copy of one of his books as a present for my brother. Then I started reading him. I particularly loved “Enduring Love” and “On Chesil Beach” so I found the laugh-out-loud humour in “Solar” a welcome surprise. Thanks for the books and the tickets.

The Insights & Insiders Fall Preview Event in Toronto
When we are out and about, bookloungers are always telling us they would love to know what goes on at Random House - how publishing really works. THey also want to know what is coming out next. The Insiders & Insights event was designed to satisfy both.
I found the presentations very informative - the background work that goes into the publishing of a book was an aspect I knew very little about and, as I have a curious (some may say nosey!) mind I appreciated the various team members of your staff sharing their roles within the company. Receiving the signed copy of Thomas Trofimuks new book was an extra bonus!
-Lucy B, Toronto
It was excellent - Delicious food and the wine a nice surprise. It was a friendly and engaged group of participants in a classy milieu. The presentations were well prepared by articulate speakers. Just the right amount of time and information for each presenter. I came away with the feeling that you have a great team atmosphere at Random House, with lots of talent and humour. I especially liked the comments by Thomas Tofimuk's editor and Coupland's jacket designer.

It was very interesting to listen to people speaking to all of the different aspects of the publishing process. I didn't get a chance to look at all of the books on display, but it was a thrill to meet an author and I look forward to reading Waiting for Columbus - I hadn't heard of this author before.
