Jeff Rubin in Calgary
I really enjoyed Tuesday evening, finding Jeff Rubin an engaging, interesting speaker and personable individual. Not having a degree in ecomonics, I appreciated his way of conveying his message in language I could understand. I've only read a bit of the book thus far, but have found it written in the same manner and I know I will enjoy it. I doubt if I ever would have read it if it hadn't been for my Booklounge win, which is why I like the Random House contests. I have been fortunate in winning a few other books outside my usual reading genre or favorite authors and have been very pleasantly surprised with the reads.

I very much enjoyed the Jeffrey Rubin BookLounge event at the Calgary Public Library. I eagerly anticipate reading the book. I will be watching for other such events.

Kate Atkinson in Toronto
It was a nice intimate venue, with a relatively informal procedure. And it was nice to meet the author. I have read all of her books, and enjoyed them all.-Cliff G, Toronto
I enjoyed my Booklounge experience very much! It was my first time attending a reading and the first time I had been to Ben McNally's Books. I did not know of Kate Atkinson or her book. It was a pleasure to hear her read and to learn about her and how she came about to writing her novels. I am really interested in reading all her works now!

Margaret Atwood in Toronto and Calgary
The show was amazing. We really enjoyed ourselves as did the rest of the audience. We were unable to take photos, but the wordfest photographers have posted photos of the event on their facebook page. You can even see me in one of the photos waiting to get my book signed by Ms. Atwood with my Booklounge.ca bag! Thanks again for allowing me to attend such a unique book reading/launch.

The Insights & Insiders Fall Preview Event in Toronto
When we are out and about, bookloungers are always telling us they would love to know what goes on at Random House - how publishing really works. THey also want to know what is coming out next. The Insiders & Insights event was designed to satisfy both.
I found the presentations very informative - the background work that goes into the publishing of a book was an aspect I knew very little about and, as I have a curious (some may say nosey!) mind I appreciated the various team members of your staff sharing their roles within the company. Receiving the signed copy of Thomas Trofimuks new book was an extra bonus!
-Lucy B, Toronto
It was excellent - Delicious food and the wine a nice surprise. It was a friendly and engaged group of participants in a classy milieu. The presentations were well prepared by articulate speakers. Just the right amount of time and information for each presenter. I came away with the feeling that you have a great team atmosphere at Random House, with lots of talent and humour. I especially liked the comments by Thomas Tofimuk's editor and Coupland's jacket designer.

It was very interesting to listen to people speaking to all of the different aspects of the publishing process. I didn't get a chance to look at all of the books on display, but it was a thrill to meet an author and I look forward to reading Waiting for Columbus - I hadn't heard of this author before.
