About this Book

Do you play baseball with your Pops, go camping with your Opa, or read at the library with your Babu? No matter what name you call your grandpa, one thing is for sure: it's always fun to spend time with the one you love--who loves you right back. Ashley Wolff's musical text and colorful collage artwork pay tribute to the special bond between children and their grandfathers.

Review Quotes

Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People, cooperative project of the National Council for the Social Studies and the Children's Book Council.

Review, Kirkus Reviews:
"A nice choice for school and home, these selections incorporate warmth, gentle humor, a variety of languages and a range of family groupings while they show some of the many things that a grandparent and grandchildren can do together."

Review, San Francisco Chronicle:
"We meet an Italian called Nonno, a Russian called Dedushka, a Japanese called Oji-san and many more, including American ones called Grandpa and Pops. There's even a dinosaur-loving kid who calls his Grandpasaurus. Wolff uses painting and collage to create real-life scenes of grandfatherly fun. And she includes a list of international grandpa names at the back."

About this Author

There seems to be no thrill like becoming a grandfather. ASHLEY WOLFF knows so many joyful, energetic, and downright hip Papas, Abuelos, and Grandpas that she had to write a book to celebrate how special each one is. Ashley has written and/or illustrated more than fifty books including Baby Beluga, Stella and Roy Go Camping, Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten, When Lucy Goes Out Walking, The Wild Little Horse, and Mama's Milk. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, Sabin, and border collie, Lucy. Ashley hopes that someday her two sons will make Sabin a Grandpasaurus, too.
