Staff Faves: The Boy in the Suitcase
A book that recently had me both horrified and riveted was The Boy in the Suitcase by Lene Kaaberbol and Agnete Friis. One’s a fantasy writer, the other writes children’s books, but both collaborated on this project and the result is a mystery/thriller to behold! It starts with a woman who receives a strange request from a friend to pick up something for her that is in a locker at a train station. She gets to the locker to find that it contains a bag and in the bag is a naked boy about three years old who appears to be drugged but alive. It quickly becomes apparent that she and the boy are in danger and the story just gets better from there. No wonder this was a New York Times notable crime book for 2011 – the critics love it!
