CURRICULUM VITAE
Jonah Geller
Private Investigator
Age: 34
Occupation: Investigator, majority owner of World Repairs Agency, Toronto. So named in the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam, repairing the world. (Sometimes one a**hole at a time. )
Born: Toronto, ON.
Resides: 10 Hogarth Avenue, Toronto. His eighteenth floor apartment is cheap and plain, rent controlled and has a stunning view of the Toronto skyline over Broadview Avenue and the Don Valley.
Office: A short walk, bike ride or drive down Broadview past Riverdale Park to just south of Queen, in a converted factory that houses web developers, photographers and urban professionals.
Family:
•Father Bernard “Buddy” Geller, a salesman, died uninsured when Jonah was 14. The family had to move from a detached house in middle-class Bathurst Manor to a much smaller apartment in a building overlooking the busy Allen Road.
•Mother Ruth, sixty, is a dynamo who rebuilt her life after Buddy’s untimely death. Now a successful real estate broker who is actively involved in the arts, community, philanthropy—and Jonah’s wasted potential.
•Brother Daniel is three years older, a lawyer, family man and pillar of the community. Has never, to his knowledge, been wrong about anything.
Height/Weight: Six-feet, one eighty five. In excellent physical shape. Now fully recovered from recent concussion.
Training: Five years at Beacon Security, Toronto. Left last year to found own agency.
Special skills: Black belt in karate, currently training in krav maga. Somewhat used to guns following ill-fated stint in Israeli army.
Partner: Jenn Raudsepp, a stunning six-foot blonde. Country strong, tough and sensible. Gay, but loves Jonah like a brother.
New Friend: Dante Ryan, former mob hit man, extricated from that life and now a restaurateur—and Jonah’s best backup when things get rough.
Marital Status: Never married. Currently single. Why, do you know someone?
Outlook:
A very secular Jew, an atheist who nonetheless feels deep ties to his community. Believes he can make up for past mistakes by helping others when the system has failed them or can’t protect them.
Would like to be in a relationship but the last woman he connected with wound up in harm’s way. If his mother had her way, he’d be on JDate every night.
Remains an optimist about people, despite what he has seen and done. And what’s been done to him.
Eats pretty much anything, especially if it’s spicy. Loves the roti at The Real Jerk.
Doesn’t know what to make of the fact that his closest male friend these days is a former contract killer.
