Create fireworks long before midnight arrives with celestial swizzle sticks, made from wooden skewers rolled in metallic paper fringe.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Lightweight metallic wrapping paper
Scissors (or fringe scissors)
Wooden skewers
Double-sided tape
Cut out strips of metallic wrapping paper, 2 inches wide and 12 inches long. Make deep, narrow cuts along one long side of each strip, leaving a 1/2 inch border. Starting at one end, wrap the bottom of a strip around the top of a wooden skewer (above, right); secure the fringe with double-sided tape. With scissors, trim the skewers to fit the bowl of the glass, plus 1 to 2 inches. Shake each stirrer before using it to fluff the fringe.
